John Bishop was charge^ with the theft of £9 from the person of one John M'lntosh. - It appeared that prisoner met prosecutor at the Governor Grey Hotel on the evening of the 4th inst. After drinking together for some time, the parties, in company with a third person, le;fc to see prosecutor home.. At this time prosecutor was considerably under the influence of liquor. On the road home prisoner left suddenly, and returned to the hotel, where he took .away his Bwag. On getting home* prosecutor discovered that he had been . robbed, and information was given to the police. Evidence was tendered to show that immediately prior to the occurrence prisoner was without money, and immediately afterwards he was found changing £1 notes in different hotels in town. On tho application of the police, a remand was granted for eight- days to make further enquiries. ASSAULT. H. Paterson, charged with assault arising out of a dispute occurring on shipboard, was fiued £5.
