Coal has become very scarce in Port Chalmers, the consequence no doubt of the long continuance X>f easterly winds, preventing the arrival of vesaels now due from Newoastle. The s.s. Maori had to cosl at the Bluff, and the Gothenburg had also to take 90 tons here. The 8.8. Alhambra left the Hobsdn'? Bay railway pier at 7 p.m. on the 14th, and w & »ted at the Heads for the arrival of the mail steamer Nubia. On her-arrival at 10 g,m.,_ transhipped her New Zealand mails and, passengers. Passed out of the Heads at 1 a.m. pa"tUejfsth t and experienced light winds for the.firai days, then strong head winds for the "remainder 'of the passage, arriving at the wliarf at 6 i "a/mr on the 21st.
