Tallow is firm, and good business is doing ; present stock is 7,851 package*. Quotations — mutton, 45s to 48s 6d ; beef, 44a to 455. Sydney oil, 38s 6d ; sperm, i 965. Petroleum is firm at Is 6d. Hides "are in moderate demand at late prices ; present stock, 3,366. Leather is brisk, business is doing at an advance of one halfpenny per*lb. Horns — prices tend upward. JBcmes command high rates. Mimosa bark is firm ; only 90 tons have been offered during the month. New Zealand hemp is in good demand ; stocks are almost exhausted ; prices 303 per ton higher. Queensland cotton, 9^d to lOJd. Australian butter, prime, 87s per cwt. Preserved meats are in brisk demand at
good prices.
