The Awarua has been employed by the Government for the last month, conveying Mr Cutten, Mr Pearson (Commissioner of Crown Lands), and the professors of the Otago University, to. Stewart's Island, ani visiting some of the ports there, viz., Patterson's Inlet, Port Adventure, and Horse Shoe Bay. She returned on Tuesday night with the party. The s.s. Gothenburg left Hobson's Bay at 2 30 p.m. on the 29th ult; passed through Port PhiUip Heads at 6.30 same day ; experienced light southerly winds the first three days, with fresh south east winds the latter part of tlie passage, arriving at the wharf at 4 p.m. on the 6th. The Gothenburg is commanded by Capt. Clark, late of the Claud HamUton. Tbe foUowing is the amount of cargo she has brought for tbe various ports : — Bluff, 73 tons ; Dunedin, 233 do ; Oamaru, 23 tons ; Timaru, 10 do ; Lyttelton, 47 do ; WeUington, 63 do.
