The schooner Florence left Dunedin on the 19th. She will load timber here for the north. The e.s. Alhambra arrived at the wharf at 7 a.m. on the 21st. She left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on the 14th, passed through Port Phillip Heads at 6 p.m., ana Swan Island the following day r at the same hour. Experienced light easterly winds for the first four days, and a strong easterly gale the latter part of the passage. Passed the •Company's s.s. Kangitoto on the 15tb, at 6 p.m., •off Swan Island. On the 20th, the wife of Mr J. F. Hunt, a saloon passenger, gave birth to a eon. Mother and child were doing well, notwithstanding the absence of medical aid. The s.s. Beautiful Star left Port Chalmers at midnight on the 19th, and experienced easterly winds on the passage down. Passed the Heads liere at 5 p.m. on the 20th for Invercargili, where she intended to discharge 300 sheep, but on arriving inside the New River Heads, found the tides low, which was the result of the strong easterly winds, consequently Capt. Hart would not risk his Teßsel at the wharf, but discharged the sheep at *fhe Mokomoko jetty, and returned to the Bluff at 8 a.nv the following morning, when she. discharged 50 tonß general cargo, and loaded wool and timber for Dunedin.
