The Orange party are making preliminary arrangement to secure the return of candidates belonging to their party. The dissolution of Parliament has unhinged business. The markets are stagnant, and there is nothing doing. The ship Paramatta will load 700 tons of wheat for the English market. Adelaide. The telegraph line has been extended 1100 miles northwards, and 300 miles southward from Port Darwin. The remaining 400 miles it is proposed to perform by means of a horse express, and a number of horses have been sent to Port Darwin by the Orneo for the purpose. It will probably be some months before the line is completed, operations being delayed by the wet season. A shock of earthquake has been felt at Kapunda. Sailed. — Mary King, and Tararua. The corn market is firm, and large sales have been made at 5s 3d to 5s 3£d. Captain Hagley, of the s. s. Tararua, was seized with a fit on the eve of his departure for the Northern Territory, and has since died. His wife arrived two hours previous to his decease. Mr Fiveash, an old colonist, has died. A caucus meeting of the Opposition has been held, with the avowed object of ousting the Government. Bishop Shiel is reported to be still dangerously ill.
