THE EXPORT TRADE.

The following are detailed particnlara of the export trade of the Southland district for the month ending 31st ult. Articles produced or manufactured in the colony are alone enumerated. All others are omitted : —

The port of Rirerton despatched 417 bales of wool, 13,697 bushels of oats, and 680 bushelß of

barley, the declared total value being £13 954. It should be noted that a quantity of the grain despatched by Riverton was forwarded to the Bluff, where it lies for transhipment. That ac--1 counts for the export of grain in the general ' returns published above being smaller than those ! noted for Biverton. The quantity of sawn timber shipped during the month was 140,000 feet from the Bluff, and 1,000 feet from Invercargill, making a total of 141,000 feet, the whole of which was consigned to Danedin.
