The Diocesan Synod was opened today by the Prelate, who expressed the desire that the New Zealand church should adopt a revised leetionary, but expressed a doubt whether this could be done as suggested by the Nelson Synod without a formal act of the G-eaeral Sy,nod. Addresses of sympathy with the Melaneaian missionaries in the loss they had sustained by Bishop Patteson's death, and to the Archbishop of Canterbury praying that he would use his influence to Buppresa the labor traffic, word passed.
