The s.s. Tairoa safled from the Bluff for Martin's Baj at midnight on the 9th inst., and arrived there early on the morning of the 11th, but in consequence of a strong breeze and heavy sea, she ■was unable to cross the bar, and anchored in Big Bay until the weather moderated. The bar was Bafely crossed the following day, and she steamed up the river and landed her cargo and-passengers a,t Jamestown. . Before leaving the settlement, Capt. M'Sinnon was presented with a testimonial by. his passengers and the settlers, for his kindness and attention on the passage and daring his stay. The Tairoa's arrival with suppliesjras much needed, there baing notbing^n the snape of provisions at the settlement, except a little flour and tea. A few of the settlers are niiningi and others clearing their land— the total number being given as thirty. . ,
