Bay Camden by Calendar; dam Cassandra, by Tros j grand-dam, Alice Gray, by an Old Emigrant ; great grand-dam, €hilnare,' by Lord Egremont's Young Gohanna, out of Ultima, by Hollyhock {vide Stud Book). Gulnare was foaled in 1822, and imported from England into New South Wales by Mr James Macarfchur, of Camden Park. ' Calendar (half-brother to General Chasse) was imported to New South Waleß by the Australian Agricultural Company 5 was got by Canteen, out of Hambletonian, out of Monica, by Sir Peter {vide Stud Book). Cassandra's sire, Tros, by Pram, out of Ally, by Partizan 5 was bred by Lord Albemarle, and imported to New South Wales by Mr Kater, in 1840 {vide Stud Book). Alice Grey's sire, Old Emigrant, by Pioneer, I out of Ringtail, by Buzzard ; was bred by Mr Rush, in 1822, and imported to New South j Wales by Admiral Rous, R.N., in 1828 {vide Stud Book). . Bay Camden ia therefore as thoroughbred as Eclipse, and combines in his veins some of the very best strains of racing blood. His dam, Cassandra, made her appearance on the Austra* lianTurf in 1857, and in the short period of eight | months beat every horse of note then on that turf, the veteran Jorrocks included. I ' Bay Camden's own performances as a race- 1 horse, under all weights, are far too numerous to enumerate, and of such a character as to have stamped him as the best aged horse that ever figured on the Victorian turf. His symmetry, subßtance,' bone, good constitution, and his being a sure foal-getter, all recommend him as a sire. Bay Camden for three years gained the first prize against every competitor at the Canterbury show ; once with Traducer, Lethard, Antidote, and Tom King, all imported horses. Bay Camden for. two years took the first prize at Dunedin. Bay Camden is the best Thoroughbred Entire in Otago : there is nothing to class with him. • Terms — £5; Groom's fee, sb. Rainbow is a ■ remarkably handsome bright bay horse, with black points; stands fifteen hands' and three inches high, is of exquisite symmetry, combined with perfect action, and of a good temper. Rainbow is by King Alfred ; King Alfred is by Pyrrhuß the First, winner of the great Epsom Derby) ; Pyrrhus was by Epirus, out of Fortress, by Defence; her dam, Jervis, by Moses (also winner of the Derby), out of Calendular, by Camerton ; Snowdrop, by Highland King {vide Stud Book) . Rainbow's dam was Iris, by "Cornborough, (for whose pedigree vide Stud Book), out of Kate, by Buffalo ; out of Emma, by Peter Finn ; out of an imported mare (fide Stud Book). Cornborough, the sire of Iris (Rainbow's damj, was owned in Victoria by Mr Goldsmith, and at his (the horse's) death, his stock rose 100 per cent, or more in value. King Alfred is well known to be one of the very best thorough-bred Sires in Victoria, his stock being well distinguished both over fences and on the flat- — all of them good jumping horses; for instance, Bouter Johnny,. Tarn o' Shanter, IngleeiderFreetraaer, Nonsense, Banker, Wando, Bonda, Archer, Fair Nell, Little King, and many others capable -of carrying 15at. to the hounds.
