THE REUNION PROCLAMATION
The New Zealand Gazette of the 20th ult. contains the proclamation of reunion, which we reprint as follows : — G. F. Bowen, Governor. A Pboclamation. "Whereas by " The Otago and Southland Union Act, 1870," it is enacted that the said Act shall come into operation on such day as the Governor shall, by proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, appoint : Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, G.C.M.G., the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and appoint that " The Otago and Southland Union Act, 1870," shall come into operation on the sixth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy. Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in- Chief in and over the said Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice- Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Wellington, and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this seventeenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
