NEW ZEALAND FLAX.
We regret to say that no improvement has taken place in the price of this fibre during the past four weeks ; but have reason to believe that the prejudice against its use, and as to its adaptability to the many purposes for which Manilla and other Hemps are so extensively used, will, ere long, be got rid of. We hope the arrival of the England, from Lyttelton, having a great part of her running gear manufactured of this Flax, and which has been found perfectly suitable, being declared by her officers to be even equal to Manilla, will accelerate this desirable result. We should recommend our constituents, in the meantime, to ship only such as is well dressed, and of the first quality, as we are quite unlikely to place to advantage any shipments of inferior kinds. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), June 17th, 1870.
