COMMERCIAL.
* The following are the Customs returns for the -week ending July 2nd, 1870 : —
J). Macrorie, Auctioneer, reports :— ... The advertised sale of draught horses at the Commercial Yards last Satollay "attracted, a good attendance,: and although the . bidding was confined to but few, every, hoof under hill of sale changed hands at fair rates, and I doubt if much higher prices would have ruled in Dunedin yards, where a demand for this description {exists owing to the carrying on of public, works. Prices ranged from £25 to £40, the average being. £33 per head. An American waggon with "ffsets pole harness i realised £47. '.Hacks were as usual dull of sale ; few were offered and few sold. Spring cart with new set of plated harness realised £14. ' *• It. is quite likely that intending buyers of horses will hold back for the two drafts of Mr Richardson's unbroken stock, the first of which "willbe offered at WsHacetovni oh the 20th inst. r InvercargiU, 4th July, 1870.
