The s.s. Tararua sailed from Port Chalmers at 4.30.1km. on, the 14th, and experienced stivqng westerly sales ; arrived at the wharf at ll a.in. ; discharged and received cargo on board, and sailed for Melbourne at 9 p.m. same day. -, JThe barque'Nightingale, 240 tons, sailed from Port Phillip Heads.on the 6th, and experienced light westerly winds for the first two days, when ITheavy S.TS. gale was encountered, which cdhtjnued for 19 hours, with, a very low barometer, and, for the-remainder of the passage, strong W. and S.W. winds, with a heayy cross sea, were met with. She aorriv^d at the Heads at 3 p.m on the 15th. The ship Dunfillan, from Glasgow, arrived in Port Chalmers on the 13th. inst. witJfa full cargo «nd 31 passengers, A A Captain Rogers^ of flie barque Indus, which arrived in Port'Chialniers on the 13th inst., reports numerous whales in Foveaui Straits, in the ■vicinity of .Cod Fish Island. ■ '■ -
