The retiring manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Donedin, Charles Stewart, Esq., ■was presented, on the 12th inst., by the officers of the bank, with a handsome testimonial. A return published in the Otago Gazette states that the number of sheep in the province in 1869 . -was 2,385,259, which was made up as follows: — On runs, 1,859,186 • on freeholds, 449,854; on hundreds, 30,414; and on goldfield, 45,805. A shipment of 121 cases of 61b tins of preserved mutton, and 3 cases of preserved tongues, has been made by the Canterbury Meat Export Company. j
