MR WOOD'S RESIGNATION.

(TO THS EDITOB 07 THE TIKES.) Sib, —t perceive that you have definitely called upon Mr Wood, our member inthe House of Representatives, to place his resignation in the hands of the electors, and I believe that he will eer>. tainly not object to do so. Mr Wood cannot consider that such a request to him is intended in any way as a slight, because the General Assembly itself must be dissolved by lapse of time in the coarse of a few months. Settiug aside, however, the question of re-union, there can be but one opinion amongst the whole body of electors with respect to the paramount importance of securing for the next session some gentleman who is not only possessed of the power to make ah intelligible speech, but also the ability to convey his ideas in language that can be received and listened to by the General Assembly —who are, I understand, a little touchy upon this point. The wants and difficulties of the Province will require to be carefully explained, and the whole debate watched and entered into with the very greatest care. : , Many other questions of great importance, such as the debate on; Protection, are sure to come up at the next meeting of the Assembly, and Mr Woodcannot shut his eyes to the fact that on all such questions he must be dumb. That Mi* Wood is a decent respectable " old fellow" and colonist, " nobody can deny," but that he " is the man for Galway," is what many of the electors, and soine'of his friends even, consider as a matter of legitimate doubt.—l am, Ac., Ajtoxheb Electob.
