Incipient negotiations for the settlement of the Alabama claims have fallen through, as Mr Fish, in laying before the Senate the correspondence between the two Governments, suppressed Lord Clarendon's crushing reply to his onesided review. The Prince was present at the Dominion Parliament at Ottawa. Lady Young gave a grand reception in his honor, and the citizens gave a ball.
