FLAX MILLS, &c.
(TO THB EDITOR OE THE TIME 3.) Sib, — There. are doubtless a number of persons, like myself, eagerly watching the progress of the new industry of manu- 1 factoring flax, and who, like myself, would willingly take part in the work, if they knew how to commence. To. gain this knowledge, . I have ventured to appeal, through your columns, to those who can give information likely to be of service. I believe replies to the following questions will contain what is most material to be known by all who intend to " go in" for flax dressing : — .What is supposed to be the best machine for performing all necessary work in dressing flax? "What quantity of dressed fibre will it produce weekly ? What amount of horse-power is required to drive it ? What is about the probable cost ? And where can the machine be procured ? If any of your readers will answer the abo^e queries through your columns, or if any person interested in the sale of flax mills will communicate to M. JVT. 1., Post Office, Hokitika, the same information, it will oblige more than your correspondent. Vectis. i
