Cheistchtjech, April sth. A fire took place in Colombo street early this morning, by which the following buildings were destroyed: — The premises of Mr Bfownell, merchant, the stock and building being insured for £900 in the Pacific Company ; The shop of Mr Witheys, pork butcher, the building being insured for £300 in the Globe ; and the shop of Messrs Hill and Sons, bakers, the stock being insured for £300 in the New Zealand Insurance Company. The fire is believed to have been caused by an incendiary.
