A SUGGESTION.

(TO THB BDITOB OP THB TUCKS.) Snt, — There is one thing to which I think the friends and promoters of acclimatisation might direct their attention with advantage, as it seems to be a business peculiarly their own, and if attention was drawn to it in proper _ quarters, by them it would probably . meet with attention, viz., the transmission , of seeds, bulbs, or even plants from one country to another, _ The speed with which steam vessels cross the ocean seems intended to facilitate the transfer. Why should there not be a seed and bulb, as well as a money-order department ? These lines want business, and if once fairly started might answer a good, purpose. Let the Government supply the envelope or package required, charge the usual rate- by weight, and let the profits on such packages be sufficient to repay them for the extra care required . in the safe conveyance and delivery of;.the same. Few would begrudge the additional charge for a favorite seed or v bulb, rather than have them destroyed oef injured. Again, what pleasanter adden- _ duin could you add to a sea voyage than' a conservatory or greenhouse, in which, passengers could place any favorite, plant or flower they might desire tor convey to their friends in either hemi- ; sphere, under a skilful attendant (who . leouldalso carry rare plants to and fro)w - What a source of enjoyment would be opened to them, greatly relieving tht

monotony of the voyage. And would not one passenger be as willing to pay for his plants, as another for his horse, dog, or wild animal ? Having felt the want of something of the kind, I beg leave to offer this suggestion. — Tour's &c. Pbosbess. Rirerton, March 23rd, 1870.
