Per Rangitoto, from Melbourne — 8 in the eteerage. Per Rangitoto, fbr Dunedin and Northern Ports— Rev. Mr Bunn, Mrs Bunn, Mr and Miss M'Leod, and 5 in the steerage.
The M.A. and N.Z. Co.'s s.s. Rangitoto arrived at the wharf at 12.50 pm. on the 2nd inst. She left Hobson's Bay at 2.50 p.m. on the 28th ult. ; passed through Port Phillip Heads at 5.25 p.m. the same day, and Swan Island at 6 p.m. the following day. On the first day out experienced moderate N.E. winds, afterwards light S.W. winds, with fine weather, until entering the Btrait«, when a strong N.W, gale, with thick weather and rain, was encountered. The engines were reduced to half speed ; Solander Island was passed at 5.55 a.m. on the 2nd, and arrived here at above. Discharged her cargo, and sailed for Dunedin and Northern Ports at 5 p.m. same day. |
