Mr John Brook, Manse-street reports on March "9th as follows : — The produce market generally is quiet, and values for the new crop are as yet somewhat unsettled. New wheat is in demand at 4s. The low value at Christchurch (3s) will Tent any advance for the present. Oats are very scarce, and the supply not equil to the ordinary trade demand. This is to he regretted, so far as farmers are concerned, as a .much better value ran be obtained at present than say a month hence. Potatoes continue to decline : — Flour, £11 per ton ; oatmeal, £17 10s do ; pearl barley, £ 28 do ; new wheat, 4s per bushel ; • oats, 2s 9d do ; barley, 4s 6d do ; maize, 5s do ; bran, £4 10s per ton ; pollard £4 10s do ; hay, £4 to £4 10s do ; chaff, £4 10s do ; straw, £2 10s do ; potatoes, £3 10s do ; onions, £11 do ; carrots, £3 ; butter, 8d per lb ; cheese, 8d do ; bacon and ham; lOd do ; bags, 14s 6d per dozen.
