The Wellington Independent has teen favored ■with the following extract of a letter, by Messrs Turabull, Beeves & Co., which will be read with interest : — " Since last mail the quantity of New Zealand flax offering has only been moderate, all of which has sold readily at about the same prices SB we advised you last mail ; and these prices are lftely to be maintained as long as Manilla hemp keeps its present high value. We also enclose you pro forma account sales, which will enable you to estimate the charges. Insurance will have to be made free of particular average, larger samples are expected by the William Cargill, which will shew better than the small one already received. New Zealand flax is growing into favor, and, well cleaned, will sell readily. The length of fibre is an important feature. The exceptionally high price of Manilla hemp has caused a great demand for Hub article, and these prices may be considered extreme." The prices referred to were for a parcel of about 450 bales ex Percy, from Auckland, which fetched £47 158 to £51 10s. Samples of flax, and twine made from it, can be seen at Messrs Turnbull, Beeves & Co.'s offices.
