Jack, agent of the Victorian Fire and Marine Insurance Company, has received a tracing accomponying the following remarks on the loss of the Laughing Water.— "Extract from letter, Agent V. I. Co., to Mr Jack.— « We enclose tracing from Admiralty chart, indicating thereon in red, the spot in which she was supposed to have gone down, and the course the boat subsequently took ; and we would draw your attention to the fact that if the rock exists where the captain says his vessel struck, the sooner it is found out and known the better, as it is nearly in the fairway from Melbourne to the Bluff." Mr Jack has kindly permitted us to see the tracing, from which we observe that the rock on which the vessel struck is at the western entrance of Foveaux Straits, in latitude 46.23 S., and longitude about 167£ E. The soundings are marked 25 fathoms on the spot, and we therefore recommend that an accurate survey should at once be made, that fumre accidents maybe avoided. — Dunedin Evening Star, Feb. 2nd. • i BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.
