Hobabt Town, Jan. 15. A new religious paper, called the Independent, has been issued in the interest of the Congregationaliata.

At the wool sales the greater part was disposed of at the following prices: — Greasy, 3d to 4d ; clean, loose, 8d to 9d ; clean, packed, lOd to Is. Flour is quoted at €13 ; wheat, 5s 9d to 6s ; hay, good average, £3 s*. Jan. 17. "Wheat is firmer, and quoted at 6s. The supply of flour is equal to the demand. The trial of Thomas Conboy for the murder of Ellen Came, near Deloraine has lasted since Thursday. The jury were locked up two nights, and bein» unable to agree were discharged this morning. The prisoner remains in custody, and will be tried again at the next assizes. In the case of Harboae, a Burgeon, charged with inciting to a criminal offence, the jury also disagreed, and the accused was remanded to the next sittings. In the afternoon a farewell address was presented to his Honor the Chief Justice on the occasion of his retirement from the bench, to-day being his last appearance. Jan. 17. Ellis and Millan were again brought before the Police Court to-day, on a charge of fraud in connexion with the sale of the Great Tasmania Reef. Several witnesses were examined, and the accused were further remanded till Thursday. Bail was allowed in the reduced sum of £100 each, with one surety for a like amount. A new rush has taken place to a locality nine miles beyond Devil's Den.
