♦ "Wellington, Jan. 17th. A new paper called the Daily Advertiser, was published this morning j circulation gratis. The Victorian Sngar Company have sent down an agent to investigate the . alleged poisoning of sugar- It has been ascertained that the poisoning was caused _, by leakage from a quantity of cases of patent carbolic acid sheep dipping composition, imported, in the same steamer by Levin and Co. January 18th. Te Kooti is reported to be within ten miles of Tauranga. The settlers are crowding into town. The Blaache has gone there to relieve the Rosario. The Auckland share market continues dull. The Inverness crushing is turning out very well. A new reef has been struck at the Junction claim. Waitemata scrip is in demand at £4>. Napieb, January 18th. Alexandra, 13th. — Te Eooti is within one day's march of Oratau. Kemp has arrived at "Waikato boundary. 200 king natives have left Te Kooti, to caution Kemp against entering the king territory Kemp replied that he would follow Te Kooti whether the king permitted it or not. A collision is expected, should the king'hold Kemp in check. Col. Moule has reinforced Cambridge, and has sent out scouts. The New Zealand Herald of the 14th states that the king has sent a native woman to warn the Government. It was expected that Te Kooti would attack Orakau. Tbe body of a European has been found near Runui. "Whether his death is attributable to Te Kooti or not the tele- , gram does not state. Louis Hettit, who forwarded the information from "Waikato, confesses that he is fairly puzzled as to what are Jthe king's intentions. The Hero took 3,6420z5. of gold for Sydney, shipped by the Bank of New Zealand. . . \ _ ... i -, The Countess of Kintore,for London", takes 7,0000z5. of gold. No. 4 leader at Moanatirai shows splendidly. Another rich patch of gold has been discovered in the Golden Age claim. H.M.S. Virago arrived this morning, and will take troops to Wellington. She will there await the arrival of troops from Wanganui, and from thence she proceeds to Sydney. , . H.M.S. Challenger has gone to Tauranga to join the Rosario. ■ The Governorproceededto Coromandel in the Sturt on the 14th. M'Donnell and Kemp's forces have started in pursuit of Te Kooti.
