Twenty-tour others had agreed in writing to support his claims. > A Florence telegram, dated Nov. 10, says that the Italian Government reserve the i right to reject decisions of the CE jumenical Council opposed to the laws of the country and spirit of the age. The Suez correspondent of the ADaily News regrets that the opening of the canal had not been delayed for a few months. He fears thafc the passage of the larger ships will not be free from risk. He states that the granite pillars of the viaduct are badly cracked, but he thinks the injury is not sufficient to prevent the traffic. An unknown man was arrested on Nov. 7, prowling around Compeigne ; on being searched, he was found to be armed. He admitted that his intention was to assassinate the Emperor. It is now tolerably certain that the Emperor will spend a portion of the winter at Nice.
