A gentleman having a remarkably long visage, overheard a lad observe to another, as he passed them, " That gentleman's face is longer than his life." Struck with the singularity of the observation, he returned and requested an explanation. "Sir," said the boy, "I read at school that a man's life is but a span ; and lam sure your face is double that length." Transported for life. The man who marries happily.
