MENZIES' FERRY RACES.
(FBOM A. COEEESPOSTDENT.) The annual races at Menzies' Terry came off on New Te»r'a Day, with great success, a targe and fashionable attendance of both sexes being present to witness the merits of the different horses. The weather was charming, the racing excellent, and sobriety seemed to be the order of the day. Everyone seemed to find enjoyment. Eefreshments were supplied on the ground, by Messrs Jones and M'Earlane, and the day's proceedings were finished up with a dinner given by Mr M'Farlane in his new dining-room. Mr Howell acted as starter, and Mr Anderson as judge. The Company's station races were the first to come off, and were as follows : —
Maidbn Plate, 1 Mile. Mr Pentland's "Young Chips" 1 „ Riddle's " Gentle Annie" 2 „ Fletcher's " Scrubber" 0 „ W. Pollock's «Lu«y" 0 Station Cup, 1£ Miles. Mr ßodgere's "My Boy Tammy" 1 „ J. M'Callum's "Bob Boy" 2 Steuartfs "Diomede" 0 TKomNa Bacb, 2 Miles. Mr Andrew Mitchell's "Maorie" 1 „ Templeton's "Warlock" 2 Five horses started. Httedie Back, Mile Heats. Mr Wm. Pollock's "Tommy" 1 „&. Scott's "Chance" 2 „ Biddle's " Maid of the Mist" 0 The first heat was won by " Chance," and the second and third heats by « Tommy." CoiraoiATioir STAKTfa, 1 Mile. Mr Biddle'o " Gentle Annie" 1 „ Steuarfs "Diomede" 2 „ P. Fletcher's "Scrubber" 0 „ J. M'Callum's " Bob Boy" 0 Ladies' Pubse, of 13 bots., presented by Mrs Jones, " Boar's Head Hotel," 1| miles. Mr J. Mitchell's "Bob Boy" 1 „ Mitchell's "Tommy" 2 „ Howell's "Banjo" 0 „ Shirley,s "Caractacus" .., 0 „ T. Parker's "Dagmar" 0 „ McKay's "Stranger" 0 This was a capital race; Eob Boy, Tommy, and Banjo going together till they came to the straight run home, when old Eob made a dash for it, and won by a neck. Mb M'Fabiaub's Pdbse, of 10 soys., 1 Mile. Heats. Mr Douglas's "Sultan" 1 „ Shirley's "Shepherdess" 2 Seven horses ran. This was the most exciting race of the day, there being three heats for it. Even in the final heat Sultan only won by half-a-head. M'FJIEDANe'S CoNSOIiATIOK. Mr Shirley's "Caractacus" 1 „ Pollock's "Lucy" 2 Five horses ran.
