DECEMBER, 1869. - General Kesiabks. — A very fine, dry, warm month ; the thermometer in shade rose above- 70 dog. oa 24 days, and above SO deg. on 9 days ; in sun above 150 deg. on 10 days, and above 160 deg. twice ; the greatest heat being 86 deg. in shade, and 163 deg. in sun on the 16th. A thunderstorm occurred on the 17th, and a sharp shock of earthquake at 5.5 p.m. on the 25th. The mean temperature of the air was 62*4 deg. which is 2*l deg. above the average of the same month in ten years, and the highest recorded since December, 1861 ; the rainfall was 1*590 inch, which is I*7 inch less than the 10 years' December average. Babometee (at 32 deg. Fah. and sea level).— Maximum, 30*355 (21st) ; minimum, 29*608 (28th) ; mean, 29*957 inches. Thermometer (in Bhade). — Maximum, 86*0 deg. (17th) ; minimum, 290 (1st) ; mean, 62*4 ; total range, 57*0 deg; mean, daily range, 25*8 deg. JtIADiATiON. — " Solar mean, 145*1 deg. ; maximum, 1630 deg. (17th) ; terrestrial mean, 41-2 deg.; minimum, 210 deg. (1st); extreme range, 142*0 deg ; mean, daily range of extreme temperatures of night and day, 1039 deg. Hygrometer. — Dew-point, 555 ; vapour tension, 0439 ; relative humidity, *78. Rainfais. — Total, 1*590 inch; maximum in 24 hours, 042 inch (30th) ; days rain fell, 9. Evaporation. — Total, 5*740 inches. '- ; Cloud. — Mean amount, 4*7. Ozonometer.— Mean, 7*6; maximum, 10'Ooa 22nd ; minimum, I*o on 9fch and 10th.
