Sydney, Dec. 7. The full Court has sustained the verdict of the jury in the M'Kinlay conspiracy case. Denis M'Kinlay has been sentenced to five years', Patrick M'Kinlay to too years', and Rogers and O'Brien to five years' hard labour. Shaw, the captain of the Snowbird, a vessel belonging to the M'Kinlays, has been found guilty of burning it in Torres Straits, with intent to defaud the insurance company, and sentenced to six years' hard labour. The prisoner M'Tegg has been committed for trial for murdering two Chinese store keepers at Bowling-alley Point. Dr. Lang has reconsidered his promise of re-entering political life, and has withdrawn his name as a candidate for West Sydney, on the ground that he purposes visiting England. Mr. Arthur Henry has been appointed private secretary to His Excellency the Governor. December Bth. A rich copper and silver mine has been discovered near Manoro Plains. The A.S.N. Company intend issuing return tickets to all the colonies by their lines of steamers, available for one month from the 15th inst., at a fare and a quarter. H.M.S.S. Challenger will return to Wellington after the Flying Squadron arrives here. A letter carrier at West Maitland has been committed for trial on a charge of letterstealing. The wool sales have slightly advanced in price. A woman named Davies has been killed on the railway, near Goulburn. It is intended to get up a demonstration to the Flying Squadron. A westerly squall struct the ketch Comet, laden with produce, and she sank in the harbor. Her crew were saved. Mr M'Cullough, J.P., was killed near Dubbo yesterday, whilst kangaroo hunting, and Captain Airey was severely injured, but is now in a fair way of recovery. Hilliard, the late collector of Customs at Gladstone, has been acquitted on one charge of embezzlement, and arrested on a fresh charge. Dec. 10. The elections are turning out favourably for the Opposition. Mr Brookes has been returned for Northumberland. Mr Cowper will be nominated for the Bogan. Mr Parkes is considered safe for Kiama. Mr Brown has been elected for Newtown. Mr Cowper has been nominated for Liverpool Plains. The markets are quiet. Flour has a lower tendency. The Isle of Wight, from Manilla, which was given up for lost some time ago, arrived last night, after being three weeks on the passage between Melbourne and Sydney. FIJI VIA SYDNEY. Papers of the Bth November state that an inquiry respecting the burning of Burt's plantation, Kandavau, resulted in damages being assessed at 50,000d01. against the native chiefs. Many European residents have requested the commander of the U.S. man-of-war Jamestown to punish the natives for the outrages committed by them.
