The Daily Times of the Bth insfc. reports : — Tn the import market transactions to-day ■■were not many nor importart. A fair amount of miscellaneous business going forward, and country orders rather better in amount. The variations in quotations in consequence of last advices, have teen trifling, and T>i"os>pr ct« not materially altered. Amongst sales reported hare been parcels of new currants at 4£d ; raisins, at 4£d ; tobacco, raven twist, Is 5d ; Liverpool salt, at 85s ; and kerosene, 2s 3d, in bond. Cornsacks, for prompt delivery, have been placed at 13s 6d, and a large line of crushed sugar (about 200 barrels) quitted at a price not transpiring. Teas have been placed for shipment. Sugars quiet. Hennessy's brandy moving at 8s and 28s for a shipment. In the auction marts there has been nothing of any moment occurring, but we note the probability of larger business at the clearing sales to take place at the end of the week.

Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, and Co., of Dunedin, held their second sale of flax on the 6th inst., at the stores of Mr J. W. Jago in Stuart itmt, but owing to the non arrival of several onei^erable parcels in time for the sale, the jiitnitity offered was limited to 25 bales, the superior quality of which, together with the favorable advices to hand from England to-day, gave rise to a keen competition amongst the buyers present, and sold as follows : —
