The Daily Times of the 20th inst. reports : — In the import market business maintains a quiet aspect, and transactions privately have generally been of minor importance. note sales or Kerosene at 2s 3d in bond, and a disposition to look for better prices for thia article. Cape rasing hare been quitted at 4d ; Hennessy's brandj in ease, at 28s 6d ; and fair medium congous i> hall chests at Is 81 in bond. The sale of Mauritius sugars per Exonia occupied attention to-day, tha majority of the lines offered by the auctioneers noving at satisfactory rates, and the whole of the cargo destined for this port being understood to have found buyers. The rates realised were, Tor fine whites, £39 17a 6d to £39 10s ; second whites, £37 to £37 15s ; grey and yellow crystals, £35 2s 6d to £36 ; second quality greys and yellows, £32 7s 6d to £34 15s. The produce market has not been affected by the telegraphic advices to hand this morning, and we quote values for flour and grain as unaltered, with, however, no business doing, beyond the supply of current requirements. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co. report for the week ending 16th instant as follows : — Fat cattle — The market was barely supplied, only one small draft middling to good quality having been yarded. Best quality brought 30s per lOOlbs ; inferior, little over store prices. We quote prime beef, 30s ; middling, 22s bd to 20s per lOOlbs. Fat sheep— A. full supply middling quality came forward. Prime mutton is worth 3d, middling, 2d to 2£d per lb. Store cattle — We sold by auction at Maungatua, 3 year old steers at £5 10s ; 2 do do do, at £4 ; 2 do do heifers, at £3 7s 6d. Steers and heifers, from 6 to 15 months, £2 69 ; dairy cows, from £5 to £11. Store sheep — We have not heard of any transactions ; there are still buyers for good wethers south. Horses — We have no alteration to report ; quotations are, heavy draught, £46 to £50 ; medium, £25 to £35 ; inferior, £15 to £20 ; good hicks and light harness horses, £20 to £25 ; useful, £12 to £15 ; weeds, nominal. The Oamaru Times of the 15th inst., says : — We have still to report a stagnant market, and prices for grain are unaltered — indeed there is none of any description on offer. We are, by the courtesy of R. Thomson, Esq., of H.M.C here, now enabled to give the following particulars of the quantity of grain exported from this port during the period, commencing in January last, and ending with September :-r- Wheat : Dunedin. 26,020 bags ; Wellington, ,1,895 do ; Auckland, 3091 do ; Melbourne, 537 dp* Total, 31,543 bags — 134,058 bushels. Oats iDanedin, 988 bags ; Wellington, I*so do ; 'Auckland, 1937 do; Melbourne, 14,829 do; Akaroa, 138 do ; Hokitik3, 1200 do Total, 20,542 bags— 82,168 bushels. Barley : Dunedin, 1694 bags ; liawke's Bay, 250 do ; Melbourne, 503 do. Total, 2447 bags— 97Bß bushels. Wheat reckoned at 4i bushels to the bag ; barley and oats, 4do do. Reckoning the wheat at an average price of 4s 6d per bushel, the oats at 2s 9d, and the barley at 43 9d, the value of the exports during the period named would stand thus, viz., wheat, £30,163 Is ; oats, £11,298 2s ; barley, £2324 13s. Total, £43,785 16s. It must be borne in mind that these figures do not represent the whole produce of the district, there being of course no account taken of the grain gristed, or used for feed or seed purposes. The figures above given are only those of the actual export during fche period mentioned. There is still a considerable quantity of wheat and Oats in growers' hands. "
