(To the Editor of the Bruce Serald) Sib, — I presume you will commence your report of Friday night's meeting somewhat as follows :— " Mr Macandrew addressed a meeting of his constituents, &c." Now, Sir, I protest against any such impression going abroad. Mr Macandrew did not address his constituents, he carefully concealed from them that it was his intention to come down I, for one, only heard of the meeting on m_v way to church on Sunday. I was one of tho9e who believed that Mr Macandrew ought to have been heard before he was condemned, and consequently did not sign the requisition for him to resign, but I wilt hesitate no longer. I was in reality extremely sorry when I he.->rd of this crowning dodge not to meet the settlers. Was he afraid to meet us ? Then he ought not to have come at all. But to come and 3ecure a vote of satisfactory explanation in our name from a few runholders and their friends, is unworthy of Mr Macandrew, and is in the highest degree directly insulting to us. But how did the runholders know of the meeting ? In order to justify the action we have already taken, there certainly is now only | one course open for us to adopt, and that ' is to sign the requisition. From the manner in which 1 understand Mr Macandrew was received at the meeting, he must know very well the feeling of extreme dissatisfaction which exists throughout the district with his conduct as our representative, and it occurs to me that the most prudent course for him to adopt is at once to tender his resignation. If not, he may rest assured that, having now doubly offended every settler in the district, he will, and that very speedily, be presented with a unanimously-signed request to do so I can only trust myself to say further, that I have not met with one holding a different feeling than that I have expressed. — I am, <&c, CwnUi
