[CIRCULAR.] TjiINDING it impossible to obtain trained and Jj experienced Assistants, and not wishing to employ for a longer period those who take to teaching as a last resort, I beg to announoe to parents and guardians that, for the future, th» classes of the InvercargiU Grammar School will be conducted with the assistance of pupil teachers (trained by myself, and therefore requiring even less supervision than others ignorant of my svstern) who are, I may state, above the standard of age and acquirements fixed by the Commissioners of Education for Great Britain and Ireland, — where the system is practised — being not only thoroughly up in the common branches, but considerably advanced in tbe higher. As they will continue to receive private instruction, their competency to exchange classes with me during the requisite inspection, is assured, while the training involved must fit them to take a good position in the profession, should they her*, after adopt it. The system thus introduced would have been organised sooner but for the difficulty of gaining the consent of parents, who have hitherto found for their sons more lucrative employment. A. MACDONALD.
