Per Rangitoto, from Dunedin — Miss Dolly Green, and Mrs Hewitt ; two in the steerage. Per Kangitoto, for Melbourne — Mr and Mrs Warren, Mrs Madden, Messrs W. and J. G-all ; eight in the steerage. Per Phcebe, for Dunedin — Messrs Coutts, Jones, De Beer, Mrs M'Donald, and two in the steerage. The M.A. and N.Z. Co.'s a.s. Rangitoto arrived at the wharf on the 23rd inst., at 9 o'clock. She left Hobson's Bay with the New Zealand portion of the mails from England at 2.20 p.m. on the Bth inst. Passed King's Group at 7.45 a.m. on the 9th, and experienced strong S.E. winds till her arrival off Hokitika at 6 am. on the 15th, but owing to the heavy sea she did not anchor until 11 a.m. The s.s. Waipara made an attempt to get off to the Kangitoto, but ttie wind and sea were too heavy, and she had to return to port. Captain Mackie being convinced that it was impossible to land the mails, or communicate, got the anchor up and proceeded to Wellington. Arrived there at 5.40 p.m. on the 16th, and left at the same hour on the following day. Called at Lyttelton, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 4.15 p.m. on the 20th. Sailed for the Btuff at 4.30 pm. on the 21st, and experienced fine weather, with light E. winds down the coast, and arrived as above. We are indebted to Mr Longfield for our usual files.
