Adelaxde, May 4. There has been a good deal of talk on 'Change to-day, as to the misstatements appearing in the ' Melbourne Journal of Commerce' with regard to our agricultural statistics. The Smithfield Farmers' Club have passed a resolution to refuse .for the future to give the Government any further statistics as to crops or other information. May 5. Advices from "Wentworth state that the New South Wales police have seized at Wilcannia all the spirits oq board the Bogaa and Jolly Miller river steam ers. The merchants here are indignant at this step, and some consider it all the more strange as occurring at the very time when delegates are meeting to discuss the propriety of a Customs union. The directors of the Moonta Mine have declared another dividend of £5 per share. The corn market ia firm, and large sales of wheat have been made to-day at 5s Id. A general meeting of ritualistic members of the Church of England has been called for Friday evening. It is rumored to be the intention of the episcopal authorities to take proceedings against the Rev. Mr Webb for declaring his belief in the real presence, which declaration was made at the last meeting of the episcopal synod. The corn market is very firm, with an upward tendency. Sales of wheat for export have been made at 5s o£d. Town brands of flour are selling at £13. The Government do not intend abandoning the drainage works in the southeast as reported. They ate only suspended, as the funds already voted have ] been spent. The ingots of the Almanda Silver Mine, which were supposed to be pure silver, turn out on assay to have thirty per cent of copper. In consequence of this discovery, a great fall in the price of saares has taken place. Wheat has advanced Id., and sales have been made at ss. 2d., which price the market closed firm.
