SEWERAGE.
(TO THB BDITOB OP THB SOUTHLAND 11308.) Sib, — The question of a change rathe sewerage system generally in large cities i«j gradually forcing itself upon pnblie bodies, being now regarded as one of the most important which can occupy the attention of civic authorities. The Pneumatic system patented by Captain Lieurner seems to be the one beat adapted to accomplish the object in view — the utilization of the sewerage, the consequent purification of the rivers, and the improvement generally of the sanitary condition of towns. Being equally applicable to* small communities as to large the subject i» worth the serious consideration of our colonial towns, as the adoption of a proper system at first may save much time and expense. The subjoined Temarks, condensed from a continental paper, shows the value and practicability of Lieurner's system, and is, I think worthy a place in your columns. — Your's, &c, Makomo.
