The M.A. and N.Z. Oo.'s s.s. Tararua, Captain j Hagley, arrived at the wharf from Melbourne direct at 9 a.m. on the 19th. She left Melbourne ! on the 14th, arid experienced fine weather with J westerly winds, making the passage to this port I in four days and fifteen hours. The Tararua I brings. English news telegraphed from Adelaide ! on the morning of the 14th, 48 tons of cargo for this port, and 129 tons cargo, with 21 saloon and ! 206 steerage passengers, including 196 China- ' men, for Dunedin. She proceeds as far as Port Chalmers, and returns direct to Melbourne, via the Bluff, to take up the mail service from Wellington to Melbourne, the Company's, steamer Rangitoto leaving the latter port for Wellington with the English mail immediately on arrival.
