Fresh taxation is proposed. An income tax is to be levied on incomes above £50 per annum. The proceeds are estimated at £900,000. A loan of 57,000,000 [of rupees ?] has been raised* partly in England. Government is engaged in relieving the distressed. . j The Viceroy will not leave for Simla till the end of March, and there will probably be a meeting between His Excellency there and Aii Khan. The Government of India has decided that the Madras mint shall be closed.
