The following correspondence has been handed to us for publication : — Invercargill. Feb. 8, 1869. KEGINA V. AYIMEE AND OTHERS. Sir — I have the honor to inform you that the indictment in this case being held insufficient by the Court, was set aside on demurrer. ( The Attorney- General, by whom the indictment was settled, still thinks it sufficient, as I have learnt jby telegram ; but there is no appeal. My object in now writing is to inform your Honor that it is in your Honor's power to cause a fresh information to be laid, and I think that, to meet the ends of justice, this should be done ; but; it will be necessary that it should be done at once, as the defendants, or some of them, may abscond. I have the honor to be, Sir, Tour most obedient servant, (Signed) Thos. M. Macdoitald, Crown Solicitor. His Honor the Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Southland, Feb. 8, 1869. Sik, — I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this date, informing me that the indictment in the case of Kegina v. Aylmer and others had been held insufficient, and that you think that to meet the ends of justice a fresh information ought to be laid.
