LATEST FROM. THE NORTH.

The following telegram was received ■ yesterday : — NAPIER. Thursday, Nov. 26, 10.57 a.m. Hon J. C. Kichmond, Wellington. An engagement took place on the 23rd inst., in Poverty Bay. Te Kooti is supposed to be killed. More than twenty of the enemy were killed. The loss of the Government natives amounted to four killed arid twelve wounded. Neither party can bury their dead. Our position is admirably situated for artillery practice. A man-of-war's rocket brigade, with two light guns throwing shells, grape, &c, much wanted. Donald M'Lean.
