WOOL SALES.
The * Home News ' reports that at the August sales the price of wool had declined 2d, 3d, and 4d per lb. on the the lowest price obtained at the May and June sales. The sales commenced on the 13th August, and terminated September 25th. The arrivals comprised 58,583 bales Sydney, 64,003 bales Victorian, 8855 bales Tasmanian, 50,960 bales New Zealand, 11,864 bales South Australian, 480 bales Swan Eiver, 31,386 bales Cape of Good Hope, making a total of 226,127 bales, of which, however, 208,223 bales on future sales. In addition to these, 23,600 bales have been withdrawn from time to time during the currency of the sales of which, as it is estimated, about 17,000 bales still remain in first hands. New Zealand and Australian securities generally have again been well supported. New South Wales Government 5 per cent., 1871 to 1876, £100 to £101. January and July, £99 to £100 ; ditto, 5 per cent., 1888 to 1898, January and July, 98£ to 99|. New Zealand 5 per cent., 97-| to 98^- ditto 6 per cent • 1891, March and September, £109 to £111, ditto 6 per cent, 1891, June and December, £109 to £111.
