Tom Sayers was bred by Mr Lockhart, Kirkmanoch, Stranraer, and of a thorough-bred Clydesdale mare, got by Rob Roy, the sire of Black Leg. PEDIGREE: Scotland's Pride was foaled in 1857, bred by Mr John Anderson, of Smythson, Scotland; the celebrated Clydesdale mare, which gained the r First Prize at the Highland Society's Show at Dumfries, in 1860, beating thirty-two others, considered very superior over all in her class (see Journal of Agriculture of the Highland Society J of Scotland). The Sire was the celebrated Clydesdale Horse Lofty, who gained the Premium at Glasgow, open to all Scotland and England.
