Dr Monckton asked if the Government had laid on the table reports from the heads of departments, upon which the estimates were formed. The Provincial Tbeasubeb said the information was ' already before the House. The motion was withdrawn. Mr Dalbymple moved that all Provincial Government officers should get three months notice in order to initiate a system of retrenchment. The motion was lost on the voices. Mr Daniel nfoved— " That the district of Waianiwa was entitled to two members to represent that district in the Provincial Council. Mr Dalbymple seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr Daniel, with the leave of the House, withdrew the motion standing in his name, having reference to a line of road in Jacob's River. The " Appropriation Ordinance" was then taken into 'consideration. The House went into committee on the Estimates, and after a considerable discussion, most ofthe items wifch few alterations were passed to the vote for Acclimatisation. The House then adjourned till the following morning, when on resuming the I remainder of the Estimates were passed, I including £13,000 for the construction of I roads. The House then adjourned for a month.
