WOOL MARKET.
On tbe 13th, tbe third series of colonial wool sales opened with 2,341 bales of Australian, 1,609 of New Zealand, 977 of Port Phillip, 908 of Tasmanian, and ; 209 of South Australian— total, 6,120 bales. There was a moderate attendance only of home and foreign buyers. A . large proportion of the catalogue consisted of Hi-conditioned defective wool i the prices for which can hardly be < quoted less than Id per lb under the < closing rates of last sales. The wool of i better description, though lower, did not 1 show so marked a decline. * The quantity arrived is 58,583 bales from New South Wales; 64,000 bales Victorian ; 11,864 bales South Australian; 480 bales Western Australian; 8,855 bales Tasmania: 50,960 bales New Zealand: 31,382 bales Cape of Good i Hope— total, 126,127 bales.
