It was a matter of great regret that grare suspicions were cast upon an officer of the Government, in whose charge the railway tenders had been placed. Witk the view of enabling hon. member* to form an opinion for themselres he moved the suspension of the standing orders, to that he might at once more that tho House go into Committee on the tender* for the Railway, and that strangers and the representatives of the press b* ordered to withdraw. The hon. member said that if the motion WM carried, the intention of the Government was to lay the tenders on -the table and state what had occurred in relation to them. They would then propose that each tenderer present or in the neighbourhood should be called if. and asked whether in his opinion his tender had been tampered with. The hon. member then formally moved that the House go into committee on the tenders and that strangers and the representatives of the press be ordered to withdraw. The motion was then put and carried* the House cleared and the doors locked;
