The ' Daily Times,' 12th insfc, reports :- Anticipating the delivery of the Otogo's mail* which did not take place till a late hour, buyer postponed the completion of any transactions o moment, for which reason very little business hai been done privately to-day. We only note i moderate sale of Hennessy'a case brandy, at main tamed rates, and some inconsiderable lots of oil men's stores. The sale of teas and sugars a Messrs M'Landreas, Hepburn, and Co.'s Rooms was fairly attended. Of the teas, very little was placed at the auctioneers' limits ; and the trade seemed indisposed to buy. A better feeling attended the ofter of the Bugars ex Severn, all oi nearly all of which were placed. Quotations : fine white crystals, £39 105 ; second whites, £36 7s 6d to £38; lower shades, £35 2s 6d to £36; second counters, £27 to £28 7s 6d ; and brownß, £25 ss. The quantity submitted amouuted to 668 1 bags. A private mercantile letter from London, just received, referring to recent wool sales, states, "The quantity of wool from New Zealand was not so large as last year, and there were but few really well got- up flocks, but these as usual commanded good prices, and were readily bought up. No word yet of the Countess of Kintore." The ' Lyttelton Times,' 7th Sept., reports : — Breadstuffs have evinced a tendency to improve during the past few days, and Australian advices have caused a slight reaction in oats. Wheat may now be quoted at 6s 6d, for which sum a parcel of 1500 bushels changed hands during the latter part of last week, and oats will procure a Blight advance on our last week's quotation. Barley is more generally enquired for, but there is little or none obtainable in th* market.
