The widow of a murdered man brought a suit for the sum of 5000 dollars damages (the largest amount she could claim under the statute) against the defendant, whose wrongful acts are said to have resulted in her husband's decease. The mortal difficulty grew but of a difference respecting the interpretation of the terms of a lease, and -the defendant instead of taking the case to court, sought to. obtain his rights by force. In the tnelee consequent upon his unlawful proceedings, one of his workmen discharged » pistol with fatal effect at the hnsband of the plaintiff, and the , man who uaed- the pistol was produced by the widow as the chief witness in support of her claim.
