MAURITIUS.
Poet Lotus, July 13. The weather is dry, but the plantation have not suffered. On some estates sugar-making had commenced. The reports of the yield are not favorable, I but it is too early yet to form an opinion. Fever has not yet disappeared, but the general mortality has been greatly diminished- In sugars, there have been few sales, except of small lots of syrup,; supplies of grey are completely exhausted. Several cargoes bought some months ago have been despatched to Australia. Quotations remain nominally the same as last month. Astralian sovereigns, 5 per cent. prem. Freights, — To Australian ports, £2 to £2 ss; to Europe, £2 5s to £2 10s.
